Organized for Warner Bros Interactive, the Mortal Kombat Cup is a fighting game league that ran in both 2015 and 2016 across the Middle East. Every year, PLG toured across the region to find the best Mortal Kombat players, and have them all compete under one roof for the title of Middle East Champion.
While both years ended with Bahraini Sayed “Tekken Master” Hashem winning the title, the young player proved to be worth the honor, as he fought hard and ended second at both the 2015 Mortal Kombat Cup International Finals in France, as well as the 2016 Mortal Kombat Cup International Finals in Sweden.
Sayed later on continued his journey with the support of Power League Gaming, and reach to the World Finals, and the most iconic fighting game tournament of all: EVO Championship Series. After taking over the starting brackets with a bang, Sayed managed to reach the Grand Finals of the Mortal Kombat XL Touranment at EVO 2016, but sadly lost against SonicFox to finish as runner-up of the tournament. Nevertheless Sayed has proved to the world that one player from the island of Bahrain can make it on the global scale… With a little help from his friends and partners. Congratulations Sayed for making history and for becoming the people’s champion!
